Strange happenings over at 9/11 Review

May 13, 2008

Initially, I didn’t think this would be worth a blog post in and of itself, but I found my site linked to from 911review.org through a visitor’s click. Not a big deal, but then I got to poking around through some other things on the site and whoops! all kinds of redirects to junk sites started happening. The pages were there and visible for a few seconds, an install language package for Chinese came up and then I found myself redirected through some lame looking URL to Process[spam]AtHome.com. Bummer. Looks like there are some good articles over there (when you can actually read them), but I’m kind of afraid to link to the site right at the moment. Anyway, for now here’s an archive of the page where I’m linked from which appears to stabilize and prevent the redirects.

One link I found which may be of interest to this blog’s readers is to a story which is a few years old with this title:

While Fending Off DoJ Subpoena, Google Continues Longstanding Relationship With US Intelligence. Of course, Google denied that, after it became news.

A “debunking” of the movie Zeitgeist

May 6, 2008

H/T to Dandelion Salad for the link to a supposed debunking of the entire movie Zeitgeist. Initially, I was going to post the following as a comment on that blog post, but it started to get a bit lengthy and I figured it would be both more appropriate and easier to format as a blog post, so here it is:

Thanks for the links. I’ll have to check out the debunks even though I doubt I’ll agree with a lot of it. Always good to see others’ perspectives, though. Peter Joseph (Zeitgeist’s creator) himself has written “It is my hope that people will not take what is said
in the film as the truth, but find out for themselves, for truth is not told, it is realized.”

Do I think everything in the movie is 100% accurate? No. Do I think that it is worth watching and researching? Absolutely. Do I think attempting a good faith debunk and/or critique is a worthwhile effort? Yes, while emphasizing “good faith”. Most debunks which I see seem to have an agenda which seems to translate roughly as follows- “it’s all BS, and you should take my word for it because I’ve obviously put a lot of effort into this website and nobody really follows all the endnotes on these things anyway- just link to this page in forums like a good sheep and repeat after me- “it’s all been debunked”".

(note to new readers of this blog- I’ve read and researched (both online and offline) on many of the topics covered by the movie since well before the movie was released and provide some links for some further recommended reading on some of the topics covered both below and in my most popular blog post- Peter Joseph’s movie Zeitgeist)

Having looked a little bit at the “debunk” I’ll provide a few links of interest for Parts 2 and 3. I’m not about to attempt a full on debunk, analysis or critique of the “debunk”. It’s just not worth the effort. If Dick Cheney had written it, I might think otherwise.

Since part 1 of the movie has a complete interactive transcript with sources and additional reading on the zeitgeistmovie.com site and Peter Joseph has addressed debunk attempts of it in his FAQs, I figure it stands or falls on its own merits or lack thereof at this point.

For exploring Part 2 of the “debunk” an indispensible reference will be The 9/11 Complete 9/11 Timeline- mainstream media sources used and linked to as sources.  Example: point one- Mahmood Ahmed

The author of the debunk uses sentences such as

I can find no sources of such an event — that is sources that do not occur on conspiracy web sites themselves.

This seems disingenuous. How hard did the author actually look for those original sources? Also, many of the original source articles on 9/11 are no longer easily findable online except on “conspiracy theory sites”. Does this mean that the original source article never existed? No. One just has to dig around in the internet archives or at the public library to find those sources; but if one dismisses a resource such as the Complete Timeline as “conspiracy theory” one will indeed have a hard time finding those articles.
Shafig bin Laden was meeting with George H W Bush, and the Carlyle Group the morning of 9/11
The author uses Popular Mechanics as a reference source. Part II notes #33 and #34, for example. Readers can easily find online debunks of that article.  He said, she said… so who does one believe?

in addition to the timeline, readers may be interested in learning about the all the architects, engineers, pilots, government officials, etc. who have been willing to publicly question the 9/11 report and other official explanations for the events of 9/11 and publish- to give an example- a peer reviewed article in a Civil Engineering journal (in the 2008 section-
Fourteen Points of Agreement with Official Government Reports on the World Trade Center Destruction    Authors: Steven E. Jones, Frank M. Legge, Kevin R. Ryan, Anthony F. Szamboti, James R. Gourley )

On to part III-

“The real truth of the matter is that a financial element in the large centers has owned the government since the days of Andrew Jackson.”

- Franklin D Roosevelt, US President 1933

I found source of the quote. It is apparently a letter sent from Roosevelt to Colonel Edward M House, and apparently can be received from Sterling Library at Yale University or from Radio Liberty. After hours of searching, I could not find a single location on the Internet that references this letter that is not a conspiracy site or is from a post on a forum written by someone who is promoting a conspiracy theory. More so, searching Yale’s library database yielded nothing. I found plenty of letters, but not this one.

I found the quote elsewhere than on a “conspiracy theory site”- Webskeptic lists the quote as underdetermined. Webskeptic may or may not be more well researched or accurate than the “debunk” this post deals with, but at least it appears to be a bit more balanced in terms of a critique.

Looking a bit more for the source of the quote I found the following here:

LETTER TO COL. EDWARD MANDELL HOUSE from Franklin D. Roosevelt Nov. 21,
1933 - F.D.R.: His Personal Letters - Duell, Sloan and Pearce 1950, as cited in THE
SHADOWS OF POWER
Id

whether one agrees with the POV of angelfire or Perloff, one could probably verify or refute the accuracy of the quote given that information, I think. See, the interesting thing about all of this is that not all books are currently searchable online. So if Peter Joseph has read The Shadows of Power (what do you know, he claims to have done! or at least cites it as a source) then he may well indeed be able to source all these underdetermined quotes which appear in the movie… whether debunkers will buy those sources or not is another question, of course.

Ah yes, good old books. What a concept! Further book reading (online) for part III of Zeitgeist is available with Jim Marr’s book Rule by Secrecy.

And I’ve spent enough energy writing this post for one night, I think. Where DO these “debunkers” find the time? Maybe some of them “secretlyget paid to do this type of stuff? Who knows, eh?

I had a dream- The “Lone Gunman” theory of 9/11

April 27, 2008

Okay, the basis of this theory of what really happened on 9/11 came to me in a dream (I don’t know whether the dream was inspired by something I read or watched or by something I ate last night; probably both).

Soon to be a major bestselling thriller and blockbuster movie starring the next Keanu Reeves/Matt Damon to come through the pipeline, no doubt. Preliminary working title: The Osman Identity

Background: an “above top secret” geopolitical alphabet agency that no one has ever heard of before (totally black budget, of course) exists which focuses exclusively on the area of “the Stans” - nuclear proliferation, oil, drugs, wargames, computer simulation video game scenarios, you name it, if it sounds really secretive, high tech and nefarious this organization is a major player.

Prologue: the narrator says “9/11 was all my fault”. I claim full responsibility for it. It all started out as ATS exercise scenario XYZPDQ… blah, blah, blah…

Beginning of first chapter: Guy walks into a NYPD station sometime in the near future with total amnesia. Friendly police officer attempts to help him figure out who he is. Based on a fingerprint analysis and a partial match, they get a possible ID on his father. The suspense is drawn out as the PO reads off a description list item by item and the guy starts having flashbacks about his father.

Grey hair (Mr. Anderson Osmon initially thinks white hair until synapses start to fire), beard, skull and crossbones tattoo crossing the bridge of his nose, whatever, yadda yadda…

Anyway, it turns out that NYPD has been looking for Mr. Anderson unsucessfully for the last 18 years, ever since his sister was murdered, he being of course the prime suspect since Dad had died in prison 19 years ago. Ironically, Officer Friendly had been assigned the cold case…

Mr. Osmon Anderson immediately want a lawyer upon hearing this, of course, but Officer Friendly really is helpful and friendly and decides they’ve got nothing on the kid and something bigger must be afoot for the kid to have totally disappeared from the official radar for the last 18 years. Turns out he was probably recruited by the ATS alphabet agency around 10 years ago, but they had no knowledge of his possible criminal background. ATS wipes his memory (which, unfortunately, he never entirely recovers) sometime after 9/11 plays out as a Matrix/Bourne Identity black ops video game scenario gone live (or perhaps the implication is that 9/11 only happened within a matrix style framework within which we exist and that there is something else “more real” out there).

Sorry I can’t give you any more details, I woke up before the movie really got rolling…

In other words, a totally implausible BS fictional scenario which nonetheless manages somehow to ring truer than the 9/11 Ommission report.

Unknown picture of Flight 175?

March 16, 2008

Okay, I admit that I haven’t been following 9/11 Truth developments very closely for the past couple of months, so maybe some of you have seen this one. What distinguishes it, to my mind, from most other pictures (and videos) are the following: precisely identifiable camera position, ground level, pedestrians in the picture, identified photographer, high(ish) resolution image and 3 blocks away. Can’t get much better than that. Believe me, I’ve never seen it before, and I’ve looked through literally thousands of different 9/11 pictures. I’ve taken the liberty (fair use for educational purposes) of screenshotting what I could of the page and posting the result of that screenshot, but it is definitely best viewed in its entirety in context @ the original location where I found it:

Okay, I’m going to try my best to forget all about Ashley Dupre now- It’s Z-day.

March 15, 2008

Okay, I admit it. I got a bit obsessed with Ashley for a minute or three. Mostly because I thought doing so might bring some much needed attention to the real news which isn’t being covered by the media. But, I’m worn out by it. I’m going to go back to doing my little thing. What’s one more latest sensation among many, right? I could probably jump on the bandwagon of the next “fake news” celebrity story and bring in a few more hits here. But, I just don’t think it’s worth the effort. Now, if Ashley were to do it (or Britney, or whoever)- you know, mention Sibel Edmonds and/or Zeitgeist or something in every media appearance, I’m sure in that case the media would be quite happy to leave her alone, and everyone else would move on to the next new thing. Ashley, on the off chance you aren’t too busy partying (hiding out, as the case may be)- here’s a local screening. So you can go and give it some much needed media publicity, huh?

If you’re short the cash, I’ll even buy.

So, there’s your answer if you don’t want fame. Though, Larry Flint has been shown to be receptive to that type of conversation in the past, so you could get the fortune. But before I jump off the bandwagon, and so as not to disappoint any readers coming here from search engines, Ashley’s MySpace appears to be back up now; the blog Ashley Alexander Dupre (heh, heh
  ashley.diprieto@gmail.com
)  has some topless pics of Ashley which the New York Post briefly published before yanking. Also, a report on Ashley karaoke and rap videos for all you music fans. Cheers! If it’s not too much effort, see if you can’t bring yourself to watch Zeitgeist sometime in the next 24 hours or so, huh? Peter Joseph has a trailer for a Part IV of Zeitgeist out now- it’s called The Revolution is Now and is scheduled for release in October. I’ll embed it here after it’s had a chance to do well on YouTube in its first 48 hours.
