ETA- the reason I wrote this is because I think that while there is still hope for change, that hope will not come through electing leadership which has already been chosen for us, but rather through each of us as individuals working together to bring about change. So, I personally wouldn’t want to see people get their hopes up about Obama, but would prefer to see them get their hopes up about being able to make a difference in their own and in other people’s lives.
I’m not so cynical as to belief that “there’s no hope” or that it’s pointless to get one’s hopes up about anything. I just personally don’t see the point in getting my hopes up about Obama. And I wrote this post as a place to refer those who keep mentioning him to me.
