A wonderful opportunity to purge some spam blogs

As I blogged earlier, the world’s largest trivia contest is currently happening in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. This is skewing Google’s hot trends (and has been for the last day+ period), so that there are now clearly some hot trends which by all rights would never normally exist. Like, for instance, horse named button, car named dave, ponderosa ranch, cool breeze, keebler chips deluxe, etc. This is very helpful for identifying some particularly nasty keyword based spam blogs. The kind which draw an audience based on keywords and attempt to get them to click on a link to a “video” which actually ends up being something not nice. Like a porn popup, malware or what have you. I just notified AOL about it, blogspot and digg are next on my notification list. What a wonderful opportunity to purge some spamming scumbags, eh? Let’s hope the blog host platforms take notice and use this opportunity to improve the lot of surfers everywhere. At least temporarily and marginally.

digg it
